Saturn 19:1 Planetary Gearbox

Availability: In stock

The Ranglebox Saturn planetary gearbox is a highly versatile 2-stage 19:1 epicyclic reducer for motors with a 5mm shaft. It features M5 mounting holes on 3 sides, dual bearings supporting a ⌀12mm keyed output and 4 standard motor mounting patterns. This is the ideal heavy duty transmission solution for any mid-size robotics project!

The Saturn gearbox sandwiches an all-steel gearset with 6061-T6 aluminium endplates, fastened with all high tensile hardware. A pair of premium DUNLOP bearings ensure the toughness extends to the output shaft, which by the way, is replaceable!

A single package contains:

  • 1x gearbox
  • 1x 5mm interference fit D-bore pinion gear
  • 1x 4mm full length steel shaft key
  • 1x M5*10 high tensile caphead screw and M5*25mm washer (a shaft end bolt)
  • 4x M3*12 high tensile caphead screws (to fit our RB4250 Saturn motor and many others)

The key technical details are:

  • Dimensions (W*H*L): 42*42*56mm + 50mm shaft
  • Shaft dimensions (D*L): ⌀12*50mm + 4mm keyslot and M5 end thread
  • Weight: 350g
  • Mounting holes: M5x8 (7mm deep) for flat-mounting, M5x4 (10mm deep) for face-mounting
  • Input motor bolt mounting patterns:
    1. ⌀25mm M3x4 (for many brushless motors)
    2. ⌀25mm M3x6(4) (for brushless inrunner motors)
    3. ⌀25mm M3x2 (for 500 series motors)
    4. ⌀29mm M4x2 (for 700 series motors)
  • Momentary torque max: TBD (to be discovered)
  • Input RPM max (pending extended testing): ~25,000rpm

Essential dimensions:

The Ranglebox Saturn range doesn’t stop at our new gearbox! Pair it with the ideal motor in our RB4250 1000KV brushless outrunner, fit our ⌀80mm and ⌀100mm wheels and watch this space for matching AM32 ESCs, coming soon!

Long-term Ranglebox customers may recall our popular Saturn-16 from 2015-2017. The new Saturn 19:1 model is a spiritual successor to the old favourite. Some dimensions have been carried over, but bolt pattern spacing and overall dimensions have changed since then. Please treat this unit as a new design, and check the dimensions above carefully. If you were a customer then too, thank you!
